Historic Savannah Foundation is excitedly planning its 17th Annual Gala, scheduled for Saturday, October 25, 2008. This year's Gala Chair, Connie Williams, the Gala committee and HSF staff are making plans to hold the event on Tybee Island at the Lighthouse. "We have been graciously welcomed by the Tybee Island Historical Society and the Tybee Island Lighthouse Staff." stated chair Connie Williams, "We really wanted to bring a focus to another historical site that is very important to Savannah, and Tybee Island and the Lighthouse were a perfect fit."
As is traditional, the Gala will be a formal, black-tie, sit-down dinner event for more than 450 guests. Cocktails will begin at 6:00 p.m. in different venues throughout Tybee Island, followed by an elegant catered dinner at 8:00 p.m., with dancing to follow.
The Historic Savannah Foundation is pleased to announce that The Coastal Bank will again serve as the premier sponsor. This marks the fifth consecutive year that The Coastal Bank has served as the gala's top sponsor.
"We're proud to support the Historic Savannah Foundation and their important mission to save endangered buildings from demolition, protect our city's unique urban plan and educate the public about preservation," said J. Thomas Wiley Jr., president and CEO of Coastal Bankshares, Inc. "It's important to respect our region's history and to protect the qualities that make Savannah so special."
The proceeds from the Gala will be used to preserve and protect our historic city. Tickets are $225.00 per person for HSF members and $275 for non-members. Members will receive more information about the Gala in a few weeks so make sure your membership is up to date. We are eagerly looking forward to another wonderful Gala and hope to see you there!
